The Use And Precautions Of Gas Stove

Gas stoves are popular for their quick heating and easy temperature adjustment. If you've never used a gas stove before, you can feel overwhelmed the first time you use it. Once you get the hang of it, using and maintaining your gas stove is simple. As long as you cherish the use of gas stoves and pay attention to safety when cooking, you can use them with ease.

Part 1: Turn on the power switch of the gas stove

1. Before turning on the power switch, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the gas stove.

To prevent fires when using a gas stove, you need to roll up your sleeves above your elbows and tie your long hair back with a rubber band. If wearing jewelry, remove the jewelry before starting the fire.

●If you are wearing shoes, make sure your shoes won't slip, this will prevent accidents while cooking.

2. Press the knob of the gas stove and turn the ignition.

Most gas stoves come with an ignition knob. In general, you can adjust the firepower to low, medium, and high depending on the application. Press and turn the knob, wait for the burner to ignite successfully, then adjust the knob to the desired fire point.

●Sometimes, it may not be possible to ignite quickly and successfully. Although the old gas stoves generally have such problems, but don't worry. Try turning the knob again to ignite until the ignition is successful.

3. If you cannot ignite quickly and successfully, try cleaning the burner eye and igniter.

If the burner is clogged with food debris, it will not ignite automatically. Use a hard-bristled toothbrush (no water or detergent needed) to clean the burner and igniter to remove oil or debris.

●Use a steel needle to pick out food in dead spots, such as the burner's fire eye.

●If cleaning the burner doesn't help, you should call the repairman for on-site service. The igniter may be broken and needs to be replaced.

4. Manual ignition can also be selected.

If the igniter is broken, use a match or lighter to light it. Turn the knob to medium heat and light it with a match or lighter. Move the match or lighter to the center of the burner and wait 3 to 5 seconds until the ignition is successful. Remove hands quickly to prevent burns by fire.

●For safety, use a long handle lighter. Long-handled lighters are available at craft or hardware stores.

●If you've never used a gas stove yourself before, and haven't seen anyone else use it, you probably don't want to do it yourself. Manual operation is dangerous if you've never used a gas stove.

Part 2: Using the Gas Stove Safely

1. If you have an old gas stove, you have to check the indicator light of the gas stove.

Most older gas stoves have indicator lights. Even if the ignition switch of the gas stove is turned off, the indicator light remains on. Check with the manufacturer of the gas stove to see if the gas stove has an indicator light. If there is an indicator light, remove the pan support from the gas stove and open the gas stove panel. The indicator light should be directly below the gas cooktop panel and should look like a faint spark.

●If the light goes out and you smell something like sulphur, go out and call emergency services as there may be a gas leak from the gas stove.

2. When using the gas stove, people should not leave and continue to pay attention.

A gas stove can start a fire in seconds if left unattended while cooking. It is important to keep the gas stove within sight at all times.

3. The gas stove can only be used for cooking food, not for heating the house. Using the gas stove for too long will increase the chance of gas leakage.

●If you have a gas stove, the gas stove cannot be used to heat the house either.

4. Watch for a "hissing" sound or the smell of natural gas.

If you smell sulfurous "rotten eggs" or hear a "hissing" sound from a gas stove, you should go out immediately and call emergency services. If the gas leakage problem cannot be solved immediately, it may result in personal injury or death.

●If you suspect that the gas stove is leaking, do not light a match, use a flashlight, or turn electrical switches on or off.

5. In order to prevent accidents, prepare a fire extinguisher in the kitchen.

To prevent fires, always keep a fire extinguisher in the cupboard near the gas stove, and also have baking soda in the cupboard, which you can use to put out a small oil fire.

●Do not use water to put out oil fires, because oil ignites and spreads rapidly in contact with water.

6. Do not place flammable items near the gas stove.

If flammable items, such as low-hanging towels or curtains, are too close to the gas stove, accidents can occur. Keep flammable items away from the gas stove. Do not smoke and use flammable substances like cigarettes while cooking.

7. Turn off the switch after each use of the gas stove.

To prevent fire or burns, don't forget to turn the knob to "off". If you have trouble remembering to turn off the gas stove, stick a sticky note on the cabinet near the refrigerator or gas stove to remind yourself.

Part 3: Regular cleaning of the gas stove

1. Remove the pot holder and wash it separately.

Remove the pot holder from the gas stove and place it in the sink. Pour hot soapy water into the sink. Let the pot holders soak for a few minutes, then clean with a damp sponge or rag.

●Remove the fire cover as well, put it in water, and wash it off with hot soapy water.

2. Wipe off the residue on the stove with a dry cloth.

After cleaning up all the residue, mix a 1:1 water solution of water and white vinegar into a spray bottle and spray on the cooktop. After the aqueous solution sits for a few minutes, wipe it off with a damp sponge or cloth.

3. Put the pot holder and fire cover back in place.

After cleaning the stovetop of debris and stains, dry the pot racks and burner lids. Return the pot holder and burner cover, refit the gas stove, and prepare it for another use.

4. If necessary, clean the gas stove knob and back plate.

Wipe the knobs and backplate with a damp towel to remove dust or minor stains from the surface. For larger areas of food stains on the knobs or back panel, spray a vinegar-based water solution, let it sit for a few minutes, and then wipe away again.

Hint

●Try to choose the gas stove with the burner behind the burner instead of the gas stove in the front of the burner, so as not to accidentally knock the pan over.

●Check smoke alarms and install carbon monoxide detectors so you can use your gas stove safely.

●To keep the gas stove in good performance, clean the gas stove at least once or twice a month.

●Never ignore the smell of gas leaking from the gas stove. If you smell a gas leak, go out immediately and call emergency services.
